‘Trump is making racism something normal’: Jorge Ramos schools Arizona GOPer defending Arpaio pardon

After Arizona State Senator Steve Montenegro (R) continued to dismiss outrage on the pardon of “leftists” accusing Trump of being a racist, Ramos brought the contentious panel back to the subject at hand, saying, “By pardoning Arpaio, President Trump is defending racism.”“I’m a Republican. Does that make me a racist?” Montenegro exclaimed after disclosing he came to the U.S. at the age of five.

“No. I’m an immigrant myself. Does that make me a racist? No. It’s just that we respect the rule of law.” “What I’m concerned about is that with these actions, President Trump is making racism something normal,” Ramos lectured the young lawmaker. “And by defending someone who has been accused of racist behavior, like Arpaio, he is telling everybody in the United States, you know, it is okay. It is okay. Racism is okay in this country. And I’m really disturbed and concerned about that. Because if President Trump is doing that, then what is the message for the rest of the people who voted for Donald Trump?”
