European model predicts ‘worst case scenario’ for Irma ‘like a tornado over your house for 30 minutes’: CNN

According to Meyers, there is a 60 percent chance that Florida will take a direct hit from Irma. But it’s the so-called European model that caused the meteorologist to sound panicked. “Coming straight into Key Largo, Ocean Reef, into Biscayne Bay,” he warned. “This is worst case scenario. Without a doubt, there is no such thing as a worse case scenario than this, except possibly slamming straight into Miami proper.” “There could be 20 feet of surge,” Myers continued. “If your house is less than 20 feet above sea level, it’s going to be wet.”

“Pounding wind, 140 mph, tearing up the entire coastline,” he observed. “A hundred and forty mile per hour storm is like an EF3 or 2.5 tornado that sits over your house for 30 or 40 minutes. That’s what you have to think about.”
